How Easy Are Water Filters to Install at Home?

With Pure Blue H2O’s NSF Certified 4-Stage Reverse Osmosis System, you don’t have to be an experienced plumber to complete an installation. Simply follow the steps outlined in the instruction manual (starting on page 2) or in the installation video within this post. You’re just a few steps away from purer water that tastes as great as bottled, without the plastic bottle waste.

Gather your tools and materials

Set up a safe area for all of your tools and materials so that everything is readily accessible.

Here’s what you’ll need:

    • Tape measure
    • Center punch
    • Pencil
    • Utility knife
    • Drill bits
    • Drill
    • Adjustable wrench
    • Masking tape
    • Phillips head screwdriver
    • Safety glasses
    • Pan or Bucket

Follow the eight-step process

In your Reverse Osmosis package, you should have received an instruction manual. Starting on page 2 of that manual, you’ll find step-by- step instructions with visuals to guide you through the installation process. You can also follow along with Pure Blue H2O’s General Manager Cindy, as she completes the installation process herself. Watch Installation Video Here.

System Maintenance

To keep your water tasting great, it’s important to periodically change out the filters, as well as the membrane cartridge. There are three filters and one membrane cartridge to change out, each of which corresponds to a different stage below.

  • Stage 1: Sediment
  • Stage 2: Pre-Carbon
  • Stage 3: RO Membrane
  • Stage 4: Post-Carbon

Stage 1 and 2 should be replaced every six months, stage 3 every two to five years and stage 4 annually. High water usage or high sentiment levels may require more frequent replacement.

Need a little help remembering when to change them out? Register for our filter replacement reminders and we’ll send an alert right to your inbox.

With the proper installation and care, you can enjoy fresh, great-tasting water for years to come.
